Exercising is increasingly becoming a trend.
It’s worth to mention the different sport activities that exist today, that aim to expand the range of options available, so everyone can choose what best suits his needs, thus creating options for all tastes.
Regardless of the chosen activity, the key is that there is a regular practice and, if possible, well targeted.
There are people who prefer to train in groups, others choose to exercise alone.
It all depends on the individual preference and motivation.
What is certain, is that both group activities and activities performed individually, have their pros and cons.
In this article you will get to know some pros and cons of individual and group training, as well as some options for activities
Individual and group training
Individual training
This training, when performed individually, has the following strengths:
- Development of intrinsic motivation (self-motivation)
- Development of self-discipline
- Creation of a personalized training routine that can be beneficial to achieve goals
Another very interesting issue, which is in favor of individual training, is the fact that the person makes time for himself.
In our society, we rarely have time to enjoy our own company. We are always very focused on other aspects.
Thus, individual training can be a good opportunity to relax and to enjoy a moment “alone”.
On the other hand, individual training may not always be the best option to maintain motivation and can often be a more expensive option (especially if we are talking about training in a gym).
But there are options for all tastes!
There are countless activities that can be performed individually.
Examples of individual training
Perhaps the best known is running (a topic already covered previously), but there are other activities, such as swimming and cycling.
These aerobic activities have the ability to decrease stress levels in the body and are usually the favorite ones to improve mental well-being.
Another favorite is weight training, when performed individually, it allows you to not waste too much time on conversations with others, which will help you to get the most out of your time and not lose focus.
Yoga can also be an excellent activity for those who prefer to train alone.
On the other hand, there are people who are very “sociable” and prefer to train in a group.
There are also very popular options for these people.
Group training
Group training is usually a bit more “social”.
In addition to training, we
- Meet friends again
- Establish bonds
- Develop closer relationships
- Increase the competitive spirit
This type of activity can be an excellent alternative for those who:
- Don’t have much motivation to train
- Don’t like to train alone
If you have a training partner, you don’t want to disappoint him and make him wait for nothing. Having a commitment is one of the first steps to achieve your goals.
Furthermore, if you have similar goals and identical training plans, it will be even easier to motivate each other and to evaluate your progress.
However, to respond to your individual goals, this option may not be the best option – but it also depends on the activity you choose. You can always ask for advice and see what is the best option for you.
In group activities, the pace is sometimes faster or not suitable (because there are people with different levels, depending on the type of activity).
Therefore, you can, often, commit to the correct technique to perform the exercises. Tip: don’t get distracted and stay focused to make sure you train safely. Respect your body!
But don´t forget that there are several options and there are professionals who can help you to choose what is best for you.
Examples of group training
As examples we have:
- Collective sport activities such as football or basketball, which are excellent examples of training and socializing
- Group classes at the gyms, which are essentially focused on developing mental well-being, and at the same time help to develop other physical components and to achieve goals
- Cross Training, which, despite being an individual activity, is usually performed in a group, what causes people to have the goal of giving their best and to overcome their friends

See what’s best for you and try to find a balance between the well-being that group training can offer you and what you need to achieve your goals.
What is the best for you?
What is clear, is that there are activities for all tastes.
The choice of the activity has to be made based on the individual preferences, because a person who does not feel well performing an activity, will probably give up more easily.
Whether it is a group activity or an activity that you practice individually, what will bring results at the level of health, will always be regular training.
Therefore, choose the activity that you like most and that will help you to achieve your goals.
Challenge yourself every day to get better.
