Betacaronete

Do you know the benefits of Betacaronete?

Betacarotene is a natural pigment that’s found in many plants and is responsible for the orange color in some fruits and vegetables such as oranges, carrots, papaya, persimmon, pumpkin, watermelon and cantaloupe.

When Betacarotene is ingested, it can be converted into Vitamin A (retinol) or it can be used to protect cells against the harmful effects of free radicals. This property is due to its antioxidant and anti-aging action.

Besides being a precursor of Vitamin A, Betacarotene is beneficial to eye health, reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases and strengthening the immune system as well as helping to maintain a glowing complexion.

Betacarotene deficiencies aren’t very common, but usually involve problems with vision (night blindness, eye inflammations and dry eye), dry and irritated skin and hair loss. A healthy adult should consume up to 30mg of Betacarotene per day. For a higher level of absorption of this pigment, foods rich in Betacarotene should be consumed together with foods rich in Vitamin C and E, for example, combining a carrot with some lemon drops.
